For admission into Florida State University, students need A minus to B plus averages in all academic subjects, and minimum ACT scores of 24 or minimum SAT scores of 1,620. FSU is a Carnegie Doctoral Research Extension institution, offering more than 300 undergraduate and professional degree programs in 16 colleges. Some of the most popular programs where students want to find entry level jobs are business, psychology, engineering, political science, and biological sciences. In addition, FSU has one of the leading programs for studying abroad in the southeastern part of the U.S. FSU also has an arts education program, which includes dance, film, music, and theater. There are over 2,300 faculty members at FSU; about 92% hold their doctoral, professional, or terminal degrees. Several faculty members have received honors such as Pulitzer and Nobel Prizes, and even Oscars.

Florida State University has 17 intercollegiate sports teams, which compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference. These include championship teams in men's outdoor track and field, and football. The football team won 68 straight home games, which earned them the title Team of the 90s by ESPN. First year students live in one of the 14 residence halls on campus; the living/learning communities are some of the best in Florida, according to Florida Leader magazine.

 

FSU has 450 campus organizations like intramural and club sports, fraternities and sororities, and the world renowned, Marching Chiefs.
